A Good Book
Something we don't seem to see enough of these days. The youth of today sitting down to read a good book. Although if you look at the detail of the shot, she hasn't completely forgotten about technology. Note the cell phone close at hand.
This image is the result of some HDR shots and some tweaking in Photoshop. HDR means High Dynamic Range. Typically shot with a tripod and a static subject. A series of shots are taken above, below and at optimum exposure settings. The highlight details from the low exposure shot(s) and the shadow details from the over exposed shot(s) can then be incorporated with the properly exposed shot.
Original Shots

Close detail of the three shots used to create the HDR image.
Combined HDR
Combined HDR detail. HDR has the ability to create wild looking images, or subtley detailed ones. In this case, I used it to pull out most detail from the shadows around her, and from the blown out highlights in the original shot.
Final Image
With the finished image, I took the HDR shot and did some tweaking in photoshop. Softening some aspects, selectively beefing up contrast, converting to black and white (I thought the subject called for it).
